Supports TMH Federal Credit Union in fulfilling its mission to improve the financial life of each member and its vision to be the premier health care credit union for North Florida.  Serves members promptly and professionally with excellent service and builds strong member relationships by effectively recommending products and services to meet the members’ financial needs.


Position holder manages and performs all collections activities and ensures strict compliance in all collection practices. Acts as the Credit Union representative working with the corporate attorney, small claims court, auto repossession agent, collection agency, Chapter 13 and bankruptcy court.

Maintains overall delinquency and charge-off ratios at expected levels; monitors and consistently updates collection accounts in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and performs all related clerical record keeping and documentation. Provides accurate collection activity data for  reporting purposes. Repossess consumer loan collateral following state/federal laws to protect the Credit Union from litigation. Performs related member service functions as required.
  Follows policy and procedure related to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering and Member Identification Program daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. College or formal training preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding lending and collections, including bankruptcy (Fair Debt Collection Practices and Truth-In-Lending Laws). Working knowledge of financial service software systems and lending software systems.
  • Two (2) years related experience specializing in collections. Prefer experience with credit union, bank or finance company.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills. Organized and attentive to detail, and able to work independently; excellent math skills and a demonstrated ability for accuracy. Able to operate required computer applications and business equipment.

Must be able to work Saturday rotation (8:45a- to close, typically about 1:15p).
Must be able to travel between local branch offices as needed.

Assists members promptly and professionally with excellent customer service and builds strong member relationships by providing quality service and effectively recommending products and services to meet the members' financial needs. The individual in this role will be responsible for

  • Performing a broad variety of member services in person and on the phone, at a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Processing member transactions to include deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments and cash advances, selling money orders and cashier's checks.
  • Posting and balancing daily transactions and verifying cash totals.
  • Ordering debit cards.
  • Assisting members with account inquiries. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned and following policy and procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations and credit union standards.

EDUCATION:  HS Diploma or general education degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE: Minimum six (6) months cash handling and customer service.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and willingness to assist others; excellent math skills and accuracy in handling cash. Ability to understand and apply detailed procedures and information about all products and services. Ability to operate related computer applications and office equipment including calculator, copier, scanner, telephone and fax.

Must be able to travel between local branch offices as needed.

The individual in this position will perform duties, timely and accurately, involving daily share draft and automated clearing house (ACH) functions, account reconciliations in accordance with Credit Union policy and procedures, and a variety of account maintenance duties and other tasks as assigned. This individual will also assist other employees and members in solving account issues and handling account related questions, both in person and on the phone. Follow policy and procedure related to Regulation E, BSA/OFAC, AML, and MIP to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.

The position holder will also process routine member transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, money orders, cashier's checks, and loan payments on the teller line in a Saturday branch rotation.

EDUCATION:  HS Diploma or equivalent. Prefer college level accounting courses.
KNOWLEDGE: Basic accounting concepts and procedures. Strong  knowledge of spreadsheets, work processing and database applications.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum six (6) months in account reconciliations; prefer one year of experience in account reconciliation at a credit union or other financial institution.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Demonstrated attention to detail with a high level of accuracy, efficiency and follow through. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent math skills. Ability to operate related computer applications and office equipment including calculator, copier, scanner, telephone and fax.
